Year 8 Leavers' trip to London
A very sunny and happy trip to London this week for Year 8!
The boys enjoyed the London Eye and the glorious sight of London in the sunshine. Who, indeed, could be bored by that sight? We walked to Victoria Embankment Gardens to see the York Water Gate, which would have been seen by the Stuarts and marks the water's edge of the Thames before Bazelgette's sewers in the 1860's and where we had lunch in the shade. This historical site visit was not only enjoyable but also educational, providing the students with a glimpse into London's past. A walk to visit Nelson and the statues of Trafalgar Square before the fun and games of the Crystal Maze! This experience was popular and successful, providing lots of laughs and challenges. I have included photos from the different groups here. Mrs Bailey's history tour of Whitehall started with Charles I looking down at his place of execution, past Downing Street and the cenotaph to Big Ben - and an ice cream before the train home.
