All about returning your books, Summer reading suggestions, and reading challenges too!

Returning Library Books
As we move closer to the end of term, we are asking that all library books are returned by Monday 24 June. Please, could you help your sons to check at home? Boys are regularly reminded of books borrowed and some of them have been gone for some time. It would be great for all resources to be returned promptly, so they can be enjoyed by other readers too. It also means that we will be able to purchase new, wonderful books, rather than replacing missing stock.

Our School Library books are labelled and stamped, as in the image, and therefore easy to spot. Many thanks for your help!

Reading Suggestions Lists
The updated and 'refreshed' Reading Suggestions Lists will be available on My School Portal at the beginning of the holidays. The majority of those books still remain great reading material, but some new titles have managed a spot on the list too. As always, they are there to start conversations about book choices with your children, but they are not compulsory!

If you have not discovered it yet, do try the website www.lovereading4kids.co.uk, where a huge variety of books are arranged by age and interest. The advantage of this site is that, once a free login is created, it is possible to read extracts of the book - usually the first chapter - which helps in the selection.

Of course, local libraries and booksellers remain an excellent source of advice.

Summer Reading Challenge
Talking of libraries ... do encourage your children to join the Summer Reading Challenge organised by public libraries in the UK. As it is possible to access this online, geographical distance is not an obstacle any more.

We look forward to congratulating those completing the challenge on their return to school.
