Visit from our Benedictine friends
This week we were joined by our Benedictine friends from Fleury Abbey in France. Pre-Prep and Junior boys performed some lively French songs to welcome them.
On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Abbot Matthieu, Brother Joseph and Brother Theophane, three monks from Fleury Abbey in France, with whom Winchester Cathedral has celebrated a partnership for over 50 years. Fleury Abbey is home to the relics of St. Benedict and one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries. As part of their tour, the boys of the Pre-Prep and some supporting Year 5 boys gave the monks a small taste of French at Pilgrims' through some fun-filled songs.
In exchange, the boys enjoyed asking our visitors questions about life in their French monastical community.
