Eight Pilgrims' ranked in the top 250 of the Townsend-Warner History Prize, Round 1

The results of the first round of the prestigious prep school History prize are in! This well-known prep school competition is 138 years old this year and attracts prep schools for all over the world, with over 1200 entrants. Candidates are required to have a strong knowledge of a wide range of historical periods and personalities. Given the tough competition, I am very proud to announce that eight successful candidates will now represent the school in Round 2 of the competition on Monday 27 February:

  • Thomas R
  • Cyrus T
  • Patrick C
  • Hector W
  • Thomas R
  • Rohan T
  • William G
  • Henry F

The hardest question from round 1 was to provide the meaning of PLUTO and the best guess answer was that Giuseppe Biscotti led the Expedition of the Thousand. Show ups for parents who know the answers!

To help the successful boys prepare for round 2, they need only revise carefully from the materials already provided for their examinations. For further information please see the website:

I wish you all a productive half term.

Mrs Joy Bailey
