Great conversations were held at the Book Club Cake Breaks this week. The pupils who attended revealed great insights; the ability to understand and reflect on the stories they read, making connections with the world that surrounds them. These are wonderful skills to hone in the very relaxed setting of the Cake Break - not to mention the mouth-watering cake (vanilla sponge with a delicious topping this week).

The new selection will be announced on our return from half-term.

Looking ahead, we cannot wait to host writer AF Harrold on Tuesday 28 February.

He will meet all boys in school, and his books are available for pre-order for pupils in Junior and Senior School. (A SchoolPost was sent to parents on 7 February at 1630: Author visit, Tuesday 29 February for Juniors and Seniors). The deadline for pre-order was today, but if any parent would still like to catch up on this opportunity, please complete the form by Monday morning at the latest.

Heads up also for the Dressing Up Day on Thursday 2 March, which is also World Book Day. The theme, Literary Characters, should allow plenty of scope ad we look forward to seeing boys and staff in costume.

Every pupil in school will receive a £1 token, which can be exchanged for a selected range of booklets in participating bookshops or towards a book purchase. Further details are available here.

I hope the half-term break will offer relaxing moments for the boys, in the company of a good read.
