Year 8 trip to The Design Museum, London
After a two-year hiatus, Year 8 were finally able to embark on their annual D&T field trip to The Design Museum...
The day is broken into three segments, with all students partaking in a workshop led by one of The Design Museum educators, looking at how contemporary design is achieved and the processes leading to the completion of a viable product.
The boys were complimented for their great application, fantastic attention, and wonderful contributions and ideas. At present, The Design Museum has a thought-provoking and inspiring exhibition called 'Waste Age: what can design do?' (read more here). This challenged the boys to consider the impact their consumption places on the planet and how considerate design can reduce, minimise, or even eradicate such waste.
The trip concludes with the boys visiting the permanent collection in the Designer Maker User exhibition (read more here) which is always a highlight of the trip. The boys were fantastic company throughout the day and their excellent behaviour was commented upon by members of the public in attendance.
