Colour Wheels

This week 5L wrapped up their introduction to colour theory and academic painting. Over the last four weeks they have learnt how to use a palette knife and a palette to mix not just their secondary colours from primary colours, but also tints and shades of each.

Today, we discussed what colour temperature is and how colours can be used to create both harmonious (analogous) arrangements and contrasting complementary relationships ('red and green should never be seen').

The boys are looking forward to using this newly acquired knowledge in their upcoming David Hockney painting project, which they will work on during their next rotation in the Lent term. Well done, 5L! Have a Show Up each for your efforts.
