Boarders' weekend report
Boarders' weekend trip to the Beaulieu National Motor Museum
As Inter-Set Football closed and the resident boarders remained behind, we enjoyed Johnny English 2 and Maria's hot chocolate before bed on Saturday evening. The next day was cold and damp. The Choristers went over to the Cathedral to sing Eucharist whilst the rest of us hunkered down in the warm to play board games. Mr Cleaver's introduction of the game 'Werewolves' was popular. To the outsider, it looked like there was some kind of ritualistic séance going on - eyes closed and hands tapping on the table-top. All part of the game, apparently.
After a full Sunday roast, we piled in the minibuses to make the short journey down to Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum in the New Forest. We explored the main museum itself, marvelling at Bluebird and Golden Arrow - both land-speed record-holders in their day. We also saw an exhibit on cars from films, took a short journey on the monorail, were guests on Top Gear (see pics) and toured the Manor house. Returning in the dark made it feel much later, but spirits were lifted with a hearty pasta ready for our return, and seeing decorations starting to go up for the exciting festive season ahead.
