Year 7 D&T visit to Winchester Cathedral
7X and 7S visit Winchester Cathedral as part of their research for their lightbox project
One of the many elements I enjoy about my job is the way projects evolve through teacher and student collaboration – the Year 7 lightbox project is an excellent example of this progression. It was about a year ago that I was sitting in the Cathedral during the October Harvest Service, and it struck me how many geometric patterns there are in the Cathedral; I realised this was an excellent opportunity for the boys to seek inspiration for the design of their lightboxes. Therefore, 7X and 7S (don’t worry, 7Y – your visit is booked in for November!) had the opportunity to be guided around the Cathedral by the Director of Learning and Safeguarding Manager at Winchester Cathedral, Emma Bourner (also a Pilgrims’ Governor).
The boys were treated to an informative and thought-provoking tour whereby they photographed their findings on the School’s Surface Go devices.
