Table Tennis Commoner competition news
A number of boys who have been participating in the table tennis commoner decided to put their talents to the test in a Table Tennis England competition which took place last Sunday.
The competition was staged at the Waterside Table Tennis Centre in Totton, home of the largest table tennis club on the south coast.
The competition was the first round of the National Cadet League - Southampton. This event is played over four days throughout the year with another date later this month and the remaining two days in the New Year. The boys who took part were Patrick B, Farid A, Ben A, Finlay N, Finn R and Olly P. The boys played for Waterside TTC “B” and Waterside TTC “C” where I used to be Head Coach and am still closely aligned with the club, although now coach in many different places.
It was a great day for the boys and their parents as they dominated their division to finish in first and second places in Division 3. Waterside C won the division and Waterside B finished in 2nd place.
I was delighted with the boys’ attitude and application of the skills they have learnt. Their sportsmanship and demeanour were a credit to themselves and all associated with them; on more than one occasion Pilgrims’ boys corrected the umpire when points were allocated to them that were not theirs.
The match results and individual averages for the all matches are available to view on the Table Tennis England's leagues website page dedicated to the Southampton National Cadet League: NCL-NJL-Southampton | TT Leagues
