Quirister Instrumental Concert
Quirsiter parents are privileged to witness many wonderful moments throughout the year, none more so than the regular Q instrumental concerts.
Last Sunday, after some beautiful singing during Eucharist, we were again treated to one of these concerts.
James H opened with ‘Ballade pour Adeline’ (de Senneville) on piano. He played with a great air and conveyed the emotions of the piece with his whole body. There followed sultry trombone, jazz clarinet, delicate flute and Sebastian B on viola who delivered an impassioned and captivating performance.
A highlight was Timothy C’s exciting rendition of Faulkner’s ‘Czardina’ on xylophone. Its changing tempos and flamenco style really had the audience tapping their feet.
The boys were accompanied magnificently on piano by Mr Du Plessis and Mr Cunningham.
It takes courage to stand up and perform in front of your teachers, peers and their parents. Some boys are as young as 9 years old and each one of them should be immensely proud of their efforts.
The Q instrumental concerts only lasts an hour, but the memories last a lifetime!
