PPA Fireworks event at Wolvesey Castle
The annual school fireworks display, held on Friday evening, was spectacular fun - it was brilliant to have so many Pilgrims, families and teachers enjoying the evening together!
Huge thanks to all of the many parents who helped with setting up and running stalls. There were many happy (painted) faces shooting footballs and Nerf guns, trying their luck at the cartridge game and toy tombola, whilst also making the most of the chocolate fountain, popcorn bonanza and our very own “pick'n mix sweet shop”. All this before the fireworks had even started! The stunning array of colourful fireworks lighting up the night sky was a sight to behold, with Wolvesey Castle offering a stunning backdrop. Watching so many little Pilgrims jumping up and down with excitement was an additional joyful spectacle!
A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered to help clear up Wolvesey on Saturday morning. Their hard work ensured that the grounds were quickly restored to their usual state, ready for the afternoon matches. It was also a very sociable occasion and great to meet so many new parents, along with the familiar faces, offering their time for this slightly less glamorous task!
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the catering team, led by Sam, who cheerfully managed to serve 640 people with a delicious, warming chilli without fuss or bother. Also, to the maintenance team who not only helped with setting up the school and fireworks, but kept everyone safe during the display.
The event was not only a great opportunity for everyone to get together, but also a fundraiser, with money going towards various school projects for the benefit of the boys. You may have noticed the new outdoor classroom currrently being constructed next to the river, which is funded jointly by kind donations from the 2024 leaving parents and the PPA.
I’m pleased to say that booking for the Pilgrims Christmas Drinks party on Friday 29 November is now open, so please do book to come along for another evening of fun!
With very best wishes from
The PPA team
