All the boys in Year 8 made a successful transition to their senior school, whether through Common Entrance, scholarship or Winchester Entrance.

With five Academic Scholarships and one Exhibition to Winchester College, this is the joint highest total Elected in Pilgrims’ history. In addition to these, two further boys gained Academic Scholarships, one to Harrow and one to St Paul’s, the first time we have had a scholarship here. In the phone conversation with the Registrar, they made a point of commenting on how well-prepared the candidate was. A further boy has achieved an Academic Exhibition to Sherborne.

The academic awards were rounded off with one boy then being interviewed for and awarded the Martineau Exhibition to Eton. This is an award given to one boy who has narrowly missed out in the King’s Scholarship exams, with consideration given to his general record amongst other specific circumstances. 

17 boys celebrated musical success with eight Scholarships - two to Winchester College, two to Churchers and one each to KES, Marlborough, Sherborne and Radley. Eight boys gained Exhibitions - four to Winchester College, two to Eton, and one each to Harrow and St Paul’s; and one boy gained an award to Marlborough.

In addition, 15 boys passed the Winchester College Entrance exam, with the strongest set of results since before 2010. 12 boys sat Common Entrance to seven different schools: Canford, Eton, Harrow, Marlborough, Radley, Uppingham and Sherborne, again in a record-breaking year, achieving the highest percentage of top grades. 

Finally, a small cohort of Year 6 boys sat the 11+ for local day schools, with 100% success rate. In addition to this academic success, one Year 6 leaver was also awarded a sports scholarship to King Edward’s VI.
