World Book Day, Thursday 3 March
Library and book news...
This week, during Cake Break, I listened to a mixed group of Junior and Senior pupils discussing Roald Dahl's books and comparing them with the works of contemporary children's authors, recipients of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. I remain, as always, thrilled by the insightful conversation and the very mature way in which these readers can pick on details and also relate to wider issues. The cakes were a wonderful layered finger vanilla sponge, beautifully decorated, with many thanks to our Catering Department.
The selection for next half-term is still being finalised, but keen readers will find it early next week on the Briggs Library Google Classroom (code ztpc6rw).
As we return from half-term, we shall celebrate World Book Day.
Author Kirsty Applebaum will visit our School on Thursday 3 March to talk to our pupils in Years 3 to 7. Arrangements for purchasing a signed copy of one of her books on the day will be sent to parents nearer the time.
The traditional £1 book token will be distributed to all boys in school; quizzes and activities will be available in the Library, already suitably and skilfully decorated by Mrs Leslie.
Happy reading!
