"Non-Violence or Stop the Tanks (after Reuterswärd's Knotted Gun)"
Bertie W, Year 8
Bertie wanted to explore three-dimensional artmaking during his extracurricular studio hours last term. He decided to create a scale model tank in clay. When I introduced him to Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd's 'Knotted Gun' (1985), Bertie immediately agreed that he wanted to make a similar statement with his work.
What followed was a true passion project. Bertie carefully constructed a scaled armature over numerous studio sessions and then skilfully covered it in air-dry clay. The cracked surfaces were a happy consequence of the thinness of the clay, which has only strengthened the statement rather than detracting from it.
Well done, Bertie, for throwing yourself into this project and creating a truly thought-provoking statement and reflection on the world we live in today.
Have a show-up for your efforts!
