Thursday Reflection

Today, Friday 17 March, is St Patrick’s Day.

So, in this week’s Thursday Reflection, pupils learned about St Patrick and why a whole day is given to remembering him!

At the age of sixteen, Patrick was captured by pirates and sold as a slave to a druid in Ireland. According to Patrick’s book, Confession, the time he spent in captivity was vital for his spiritual development because the Lord had mercy on his youth and ignorance, and gave him the chance to be forgiven of his sins and convert to Christianity. After escaping and returning to his family, Patrick was ordained a priest. He decided to return to Ireland and preach the Gospel. This he did with remarkable success. He is remembered as the Apostle of Ireland.
