The Fleece Force nativity was much enjoyed by parents today. What a turnout!

The Pre-Prep boys were amazing in their Christmas nativity, The Fleece Force! From their heartfelt singing to their enthusiastic acting, they brought the story to life with charm and confidence. Their hard work and dedication were evident in every moment, and we couldn’t be prouder of their incredible performance. We hope you, as parents, enjoyed the show as much as we did—it was truly a festive delight!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Reception news

Wow, what a super busy and exciting week we have had at school!

The countdown to Christmas is always such a joyful and magical time, particularly with young children, and this one has not proved me wrong!  What fun we have had with...

  • A letter and parcel arriving from Father Christmas
  • The appearance of 'Elvis' the cheeky Elf
  • Learning about the very first Christmas and the birth of baby Jesus
  • Nativity practises
  • The learning of Christmas songs
  • Christmas card making
  • The wearing of costumes
  • Christmas tree decorating
  • The making of repeated pattern paper chains
  • The making of snowflake bead creations
  • Christmas jumper day
  • Christmas lunch
  • Christ Church Advent assembly
  • The ACTUAL performances of 'The Fleece Force'
    AND.....
  • Calm Christmas story times

Phew!  The boys have been amazing in how they have joined in with all the changes happening. Their faces are always a real picture of happiness and excitement. This is one of the reasons I love teaching the youngest boys in school. Well done for nearly completing your first full term at Pilgrims'. It really does go by fast. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, whatever you may be doing.

Year 2 News

If I Lived in a Snow Globe
It has been a busy week with Nativity rehearsals taking up a huge amount of time and effort. However in Literacy this week, the boys were asked to imagine what it would be like to live in a Snow Globe, inspired by this enchanting story written by Jane O' Connor and S. D. Schindler.

Posed with questions, such as: What would it look like and how would it feel? and What would you do inside your snow globe and how might you be dressed?

The boys set about writing their own mini-adventures. These ranged from the most obvious: snowball fights, sledging and building of snowmen, to more unusual like underground tunnels and Ninjas, to having fun catching snow inside their very own snow globes. Their imagination and creativity never ceases to amaze me.

Forest School

Reminder: all boys need to bring a waterproof coat into school each week, along with waterproof trousers and wellington boots for their Forest School sessions. Extra layers, hats and gloves are advisable too, in the colder weather.

The boys in Year R had a slightly shorter Forest School session this week due to our wonderful Nativity rehearsals. However, that didn’t stop us getting into the festive spirit, with the boys learning how to drill a hole in a wooden disc and decorating the disc with a reindeer face. The boys also made some seasonal clay stars. A very busy Santa’s workshop!

It is at this time of year many animals think about hibernating. Year 1 were introduced to some amazing facts about hedgehogs and understood that they are just one of the small mammals in the UK that likes to hibernate. The boys had fun creating their very own clay hedgehogs and then created a safe and dry place for their hedgehog to hibernate in.

The boys in Year 2 put their Forest School skills to the test when creating natural stars for our Christmas tree. The boys require patience and perseverance when connecting the sticks together. Once the structure was created, they proudly hung their creations on our tree. Happy Christmas from Year 2!
