3E and the Ancient Egyptians

Previous
Next

3E have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians this term.

One of the most interesting topics has been the Afterlife, and in particular, mummification!

This morning, the class were excited to dispatch Hugh Y, remove his brain through his nose, his major organs (which we preserved in natron and put in canopic jars), and then put him in a bed of natron to dry him out.

When he was fully dried, we stuffed him with papyrus, washed him with water from the Nile, scented him with cedar, and wrapped him in linen.

Let's hope Anubis treats him well and that he has a great time in the Afterlife!
