World Book Day
World Book Day fell soon after our Book Week this year and provided us with a chance to celebrate one of our most loved and inspiring writers, and former Children's Laureate, Michael Rosen.
All pupils in Years 3 to 7 gathered in the Octagon on Thursday afternoon to virtually attend Michael Rosen's live performance, taking place in Ipswich. It was an audience of thousands as schools from all over the world joined in and our lot was certainly involved, reciting poetry with Michael, laughing at his jokes, 'thrilling' Frère Jacques alongside him and learning a thing or two about poetry writing and performing along the way.
The £1 World Book Tokens distributed yesterday perhaps will be used to acquire one of the many excellent poetry collections written by Rosen in the past fifty years (his first book, Mind Your Own Business, was published in 1974).
