The education of our children remains in good hands, but more about this later.

I was very pleased to have a co-host for the evening and welcomed Robert Margossian.  Robert did such an amazing job, that I am able to bow out leaving the Quiz in good hands.  They say that every good man is probably led by an even better woman and Ayse is exactly that.  Her behind-the-scenes assistance did not go unnoticed as she ran the bar and made sure everything went smoothly.  As always, I am very grateful to all those who helped set up and tidy away.  Valentina Slee very kindly sorted the table decorations too.

The questions ranged from the seven dwarves and the shipping forecast to the strength of different curries.

A remarkable segue into dinner!  Sam Birks and her catering team once again delivered, providing us with the most delicious chicken and vegetarian curries, served with rice (made in the new rice steamer), poppadoms and naan bread.

So, back to our children’s education – the early running was made by the Year 8 parents as they identified the shape of Wombat Poo; a mixed Year 6 table (The Magnificent 7), the Year 1 table (One Direction) and the Year 5 tables took the running through the middle rounds, but as we entered the last round it was very much in the balance with the Staff making a late run.

And as the final scores were counted, it was Year 1 (One Direction) who fell into second place by a point, beaten by the Staff.  A slightly embarrassed Alistair Duncan happily accepted the Hammond/Burden trophy for the second year on the trot!
