Pre-Prep News, Friday 8 March
As we rapidly approach the last few weeks of term, I am amazed at how much we have managed to fit into these last few weeks, with this week being no exception. What an amazing week all round.
From Mrs Hall
A truly wonderful and memorable way to start the week and secure the boys' learning was the Year 2 visit to the Hawk Conservancy Trust. The boys asked some very insightful questions! We were privileged to watch not one but two awesome flying displays. The finale being an accumulation of ‘Masters of the Sky’, with ten black kites and hooded vultures to name a few. We were even treated to a cheeky wild Red Kite who joined in with the action! So many of our boys are fascinated by nature and ecology, making this outing a perfect fit. Their knowledge and understanding of such issues is quite remarkable!
By the middle of the week, we began the first of three ‘Mother’s Day in the Woods’ open sessions. As we walked across Wolvesey field, the early morning mist was magical. We were then blessed with the most glorious sunshine, very fitting for the event. The boys waited eagerly to spend some quality time with their Mummies. Each session was beautiful and heart-warming, and Mrs Walker led them with such enthusiasm and knowledge. The boys discovered different stations of activities to do with mummies, from wildflower bombs to clay hearts. A huge thank you to both Mrs Walker and all the Pre-Prep team for their hard work and dedication. We are very aware and conscious that such days can be more difficult for some – I do hope you are able to enjoy the weekend and to be thankful for mothers or other special women who have impacted your own life.
We then ended the week with another fun and creative event: World Book Day. The boys thoroughly enjoyed dressing up in their favourite book-character costumes. A great day to celebrate literature and spark imagination.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

From the PPA
Book club is now reading ‘The Marriage Portrait’ by Maggie O’Farrell. An electrifying novel set in Renaissance Italy, based on the true story of Lucrezia de Medici who at 15 was forced by her parents to marry the older Duke of Ferrara thus merging two dynasties. It is an unforgettable reimagining of the life of a young woman whose proximity to power places her in mortal danger.
