Dear Alumni,
It is a huge pleasure to share this newsletter with you at the end of my first term as Headmaster. As I am one of you, you may not be surprised that I would like to expand the engagement of our alumni over the coming months. Please do keep your eyes peeled, and please do encourage all your fellow OP contacts to get in touch with the School and share their email addresses so that we can build the alumni network ahead of progressing alumni events in the future. Just share this alumni webpage.
It has been a fantastic term: the boys are in fine fettle and the staff have, as ever, been working incredibly hard to provide the outstanding education that they do. There were some extraordinary concerts and performances in the lead up to the end of term - far too many to list - but suffice to say that the Carol Service was a fitting cherry on the music-making cake! The boys were an absolute credit: you would have been proud, I know.
There is so much else that goes on in a busy Pilgrims' term, as well you know. I have enjoyed watching plenty of matches and reliving the late 80s 'Glory Days'! It was lovely to see this football season end on a high, with the 1st XI posting a 1-0 Away victory over a certain rival school not too far from here! I hasten to add that more football matches have been played across all teams than in any previous season, testimony to the great work of the Sports Department to maximise engagement for all boys.
If you would like to get a feel for the sorts of things I've been vaunting to the boys in terms of values and aspirations, you can catch up on my newsletter articles for the term here.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, and do remember that the doors are always open for OPs to visit; please do come and say 'hello' if you're in the neighbourhood!
With all good wishes,
Tim Butcher
Headmaster
