To be a Pilgrim is to colour the world, Edition 6
Wow, what a half term! Full to the brim. So much has been experienced, so much has been learnt, and so much has happened …. and we have had a few challenges too (COVID-19 and Storm Eunice today, to name but two). But the boys have been busy, purposeful, creative, generous, successful, determined and, quite simply, got down to both work and play with their ‘trademarked’ curiosity, confidence and caring. The staff have also been incredible in what has been a tricky term at times, including covering lessons for each other during the last two weeks, working with some external supply teachers, and zooming from home when well, but isolating. But the inspiring teaching and pastoral care continued. Minus a few isolaters, sadly, Year 7 enjoyed a fantastic French immersion in ‘a little bit of France’ in the midst of Cambridgeshire, although the boys tell me they failed (!) to visit my old College when they visited Cambridge (oh well, next time).
There is a lot of colour in our lives at Pilgrims’ every day and I don’t just mean green, blue and red. In Head’s Assembly on Monday, I talked to the whole school about colouring the world with kindness and how we can all do this every day. Albeit on Zoom, lots of boys contributed their ideas and I was very impressed. The Pre-Prep told the whole school about their Kindness Tree where they capture acts of kindness and celebrate them.
What a great way to end the half term. Happy half-term holiday everyone!
