Tomorrow, we have our final cricket matches with Colts and Foals (Years 6 & 5) versus Sherfield.
As well as this, sailing, tennis and Year 4 swimming/cricket continue. Year 7 play some football as we look ahead to September. However, fly-fishing is cancelled owing to staff and many of the group being absent on the Year 8 trip.
Saturday 29 June is the occasion of Inter-Set Athletics, involving all pupils in Year 3 and up. The junior (Years 3, 4 and 5) session will commence from 9am, finishing around 11.30. The senior session will start at 12.30pm, finishing the presentation by 3.20pm.
At this event, all pupils should do 75m/100m sprint, long jump and junior javelin for juniors and shot for seniors. Beyond this, pupils are being selected for their Sets to compete in one track, one field and one relay.

Inter-Set Cricket
Last Saturday, saw the finale of the Inter Set cricket competition across all age groups, and it was a day to remember! Under the warm, welcome sun, the combined Year 3 and Year 4 competition saw Romans pull away from the Saxons to clinch victory. The boys, undeterred by the day's earlier charity walk and school fête, showcased remarkable resilience and team spirit. It was a tremendous effort from all the boys, who played with enthusiasm and camaraderie.
In the Year 6 Colts competition, the excitement was palpable as Wrens, Normans, and Romans ended their matches with a thrilling three-way tie, with each set finishing with 9 points. The close competition made for a truly exhilarating finish to their season, highlighting the outstanding talent and competitive spirit among the boys.
The Senior competition, featuring boys from Years 7 and 8, culminated in a riveting match between Wrens and Normans. The game kept everyone on the edge of their seats, a crowd started to gather around Bailey as it started to be clear that the winner of this game would go on to win the competition. In a nail-biting conclusion, the Normans emerged victorious. The afternoon was filled with high-quality cricket, healthy competition, and impressive displays of skill.
A heartfelt thanks to all the staff who have dedicated their time to training and guiding the teams throughout the season. Their hard work and commitment have been instrumental in the success and enjoyment of the matches. It was a splendid day of cricket, fostering a sense of community and sportsmanship from all. Well done to all the boys for their fantastic efforts throughout the term. MTG
