Planned absences - Requests to keep your son away from school (other than for reasons of illness or a medical/dental appointment) should be addressed to the Head and made in writing, giving as much notice as possible – preferably a full week or more. Please email the Head’s PA, Mrs Karen Pacey on kpacey@pilgrims-school.co.uk. Permission for absence to visit a potential senior school will normally be granted; however, other requests for absence should be exceptional.

Confirmation Classes in Lent term - We will be offering confirmation classes again this year (after a hiatus last year), starting in January. Aimed at boys in Year 7 and 8 (and Choristers and Quiristers from Year 6 onwards), these discussions will offer boys an opportunity to seriously explore personal faith. The sessions will be led by the Bishop of Basingstoke, who will also confirm the boys in the Cathedral. The confirmation service will take place at 1045 on Saturday 18 March 2023.
The classes will be held at school on Monday evenings from 7.30-8.30 pm starting in January. Both Paul Bryant and Karen Pacey will also attend. We will make sure boarders have time to do their prep and for Choristers, we will also make sure they have time to eat! Day boys who wish to take part may stay for supper that evening.
Parents of boys in Years 7 and 8 (and Cs and Qs from Year 6) will receive an invitation for their sons with all the details after half-term which we hope will allow plenty of time to discuss this with your son, so he can decide if he would like to take part.

REMINDER: Birthday Cupcakes Order Service - Our Catering department is able to bake delicious and impressive homemade cupcakes for boys who have a birthday during term-time. To order for your son's birthday, please access the form on My School Portal here and not via the Front Office.
Please note that 3 working days' notice is required and that they can be ordered in multiples of 6 at a cost of £9.00 per 6, or we can provide individuals for £1.50 each (Minimum order: 6).
This is also a reminder that no externally made cakes or food are allowed on site. This is because we have boys with life-threatening allergies.

The Classical Association's Reading Competition will be held this year on Thursday
24 November at Winchester College
. Dr Nixon and
Mrs Brill would love to hear from boys in Years 6, 7 and 8 interested in taking part in this event.
Boys can opt to read a short story in Latin or Greek or act a short Latin dialogue as part of a group. This is always a fun and interesting event with many schools taking part. We are very lucky this year that it takes place so close to us!
