Pilgrims’ U12B vs Stroud U12A, Saturday 17 October
0-0
Pilgrims’ U12B team must be one of the best out there. On a weekly basis they train with a top-class A team, and such experience showed against a strong Stroud A team. Stroud were expecting an easy win and plans were in place, just in case it all went wrong! Little did they know what was in store. From the outset, Pilgrims’ B piled on the pressure with quick, accurate passing in midfield from Monty Weaver, Laurie Sawbridge, and Mayin Datta providing lots of ball in attack. Henry Steen got in some good shots at goal. Stroud had some strong players who were held in check by Ollie Robinson, Theo Shedden, Felix Mason, and Charlie Perks.
Together, these boys gave the team their backbone. Not a ball got past them for the whole match. We look forward to a rematch next half term.

PE & Games continues to thrive at Pilgrims'
Despite lockdown and the closure of grassroots sports, government guidance does at least continue to allow schools to implement sport programmes within the Covid frameworks we have had in place since September.
In the Games programme, we will continue with football until Christmas. From January (normally the November exeat), we will move to rugby and, as an option in Years 7 & 8, hockey. Hopefully, you will have seen my letter about mouthguards being required from January. (Please see the SchoolPost mailing to parents on Friday 6 November.)
On Saturdays for the rest of this term, all seniors will play touch rugby. In a similar vein, the current thinking is that we will continue with Saturday football through the Lent term, in the hope that this may be the most accessible sport to re-start playing fixtures within the general Coronavirus picture.
We had representative news recently of Gabriel Oluwabusola, who has been selected for the ISFA South Central squad in football and of Oliver Maclay, who has been selected for Hampshire U12s in cricket. Our congratulations to them both. We're waiting for further details on County cricket squads in other age groups. If you have any representative news, or indeed any sporting achievement news that I have missed, please share with me and we can celebrate that here.
Inter Set Football 2020
The Set football competition was concluded last Saturday, in the senior part of the school. Playing in year group competitions, matches were hard-fought at all levels. Games were played with passion and skill, which was great to see and sportsmanship was prominent. Saxons were the victors in years 7 and 8 and the Normans managed to stop Saxons having it all their way by winning the Year 6 tournament. Huge thanks to Mr Buck for organising and to the Games staff for officiating on the day.
